While there is much uncertainty about how things will resume in the fall, our Religious Education Directors are preparing for both regular in-person PREP classes as well as making contingency plans if that is not permitted. In both cases, we would appreciate it if you could register for the 20-21 PREP year by June 5. This allows us to anticipate needed materials for either plan as well as update student files.
There will be some changes to the program both in schedule and in curriculum. In-person classes will meet on Sundays from 10-11am. There is a 20-21 schedule posted on the PREP website page. Registration fees will remain the same, but payment will not be requested until we have a firm plan for the fall, at which time billing forms will be sent out. We understand that many families have new financial struggles and we will do our best to accommodate those needs.
Registration will be done for all children on the 2-page form, also found on the PREP page. If you have already provided dates for previous sacraments you can just note "already provided" in that section. You will also notice a new section on vaccinations. This had been added by the archdiocese prior to Covid-19. Vaccines are not a requirement of the PREP program, but we are now required to have a record of vaccine status. This is so that if there were an outbreak of disease that is included in regular childhood vaccines, we could contact and excuse any children who have not been vaccinated for that disease.
Please complete and return registration forms by June 5th either by email, fax, snail mail, or dropping off at the parish office.
Additionally, planning for the 20-21 school year will include registering our youngest religious education students for the " Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)" class. This is a Montessori style class for ages 3-6. This class will meet on Sundays from 9:30-11am. Please include Catechesis of the Good Shepherd students on your family's registration form.
When PREP classes resume at Sacred Heart, we will have volunteering opportunities both in the classroom as well as to assist with the drop-off line and to act as hall monitors. Those who volunteer will receive credit toward PREP registration fees. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering please let us know. As we receive information about a firm plan for the fall we will be passing that on to you.
